Steven J. Gilbert
Mr. Gilbert is Chairman of the Board of Gilbert Global
Equity Partners, L.P., a billion dollar private equity fund.
From 1992 to 1997 he was the Founder and Managing General Partner
of Soros Capital L.P., the principal venture capital and leveraged
transaction entity of the Quantum Group of Funds, and a principal
Advisor to Quantum Industrial Holdings Ltd.
From 1988 through 1992 he was the Managing Director
of Commonwealth Capital Partners, L.P., a private equity investment
firm.
From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Gilbert was the Managing
General Partner of Chemical Venture Partners (now J. P. Morgan
Capital Partners), which he founded. Mr. Gilbert has 35 years
of experience in private equity investing, investment banking
and law. Mr. Gilbert was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in
1970 and practiced law at Goodwin Procter & Hoar in Boston,
Massachusetts. He was an associate in corporate finance at Morgan
Stanley & Co. from 1972 to 1976, a vice President of Wertheim
& Co., Inc. from 1976 to 1978 and a Managing Director of
E.F. Hutton International from 1978 to 1980.
Mr. Gilbert is currently a Director of LCC International,
Inc., a wireless telephony engineering firm, Montpelier
Re (Bermuda), a property catastrophe reinsurer, Olympus Re,
a Bermuda-based reinsurer, Optical Capital Group, a business
accelerator in the optical networking, component and photonic
industry, iSky, a customer retention and management company,
CPM Holdings, (Chairman) a manufacturer of process equipment
used for oilseed and processing and animal feed production,
True Temper Sports, (Chairman) a manufacturer of golf shafts
and precision sports equipment, J. O. Hambro Capital Management
Group, and the Asian Infrastructure Fund.
Previously, Mr. Gilbert has been a Director of
numerous companies, including Office Depot, Inc., Funk &
Wagnalls, Inc., Parker Pen Limited, Piggly Wiggly Southern,
Inc., Coast Community News, Inc., GTS-Duratek, Magnavox Electronic
Systems Company, UroMed Corporation, Star City Casino Holdings,
Ltd., Katz Media Corporation, Airport Group International, Affinity
Financial Group, Inc., ESAT Telecom, Ltd., Colep Holding, Ltd.,
NFO Worldwide, Terra Nova (Bermuda) Holdings, Limited and Veritas-
DCG. He was the principal owner, Chairman and CEO of Lion’s
Gate Films from 1980 to 1984.
Mr. Gilbert is a member of the Writer’s
Guild of America (East), the Council on Foreign Relations, the
Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a Trustee
of the New York University Medical School, the Wharton School
of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania, and a member of
the Board of Governors of the Lauder Institute. He received
a B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania
(1967), a J.D. from the Harvard Law School (1970) and a M.B.A.
from the Harvard Graduate School of Business (1972).
Philip L. Bernstein
Mr. Bernstein is the Chairman of Jacob Stern & Sons,
Inc. Jacob Stern & Sons, Inc. is the world's leading
dealer in inedible animal fats and the largest distributor of
vegetable based oleochemicals in the United States.
Mr. Bernstein is a board member of the Music Academy
of the West, the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara and the Board
of Corporators of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
Mr. Bernstein earned his M.B.A. at the Wharton
School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania (1966) and
his A.B. at Wesleyan University (1964).
